A's Edge Cards in Thriller, 10-9 (June 4)
The A's offense got going in the top of the first, scoring three runs, on consecutive hits by Dante Zermani and Tommy Lampert, followed by Antonio Zermani reaching on an error, and a 2-run single by Josh Lacey.
The Cards answered with two runs in the second and three more in the third. In the second, Tyler Ulwick and Aidan Falvey drew walks, and were eventually driven in by William Massa. In the third, Anton Crawford and Nick Hart-Nibbrig singled, and were driven in on a deep double by slugger Tobei Nakajima. William Schlesinger drove him in to give the Cards a 5-3 lead.
The A's responded in the top of the fourth, however, taking the lead for good with five runs. Consecutive hits by Antonio Zermani, Austin Curtis, Lacey, and Will Fuller, followed by one-out singles by Carson Muse and Luke Travaglini gave the A's the 8-5 lead.
The A's would add two more much-needed runs in the top of the fifth, on singles by Dante Zermani and Lampert, and a fielder's choice by Antonio Zermani.
The Cards cut the lead to 10-9 with three runs in the fifth, with Crawford and Hart-Nibbrig scoring on a single by Schlesinger.
A's pitcher Antonio Zermani retired the first two batters in the bottom of the sixth, before yielding to closer Sam Kritzman, who ended the thrilling game with a strikeout.
