A's Top Dodgers 9-4 to Advance to Finals (June 8)
The A's got going right away in the top of the first, with AJ Muse launching a solo homer to left center on the second pitch of the game, and Tommy Lampert coming around to score on a run-scoring single by Josh Lacey. The Dodgers answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame, highlighted by solid hits by Blake Courtney and Jihyun Kang.
After a scoreless second, the Dodgers took a 4-2 lead in the third, highlighted by a 2-run triple by Peter Sughrue. But the A's answered in the top of the fourth, with three runs of their own. Consecutive hits by Austin Curtis (3-3), Lacey (2-2) and Will Fuller, a sacrifice fly by Sam Kritzman, and a run-scoring single by Carson Muse did the damage.
A's starter Lampert held the Dodgers scoreless in the fourth, which was highlighted by a spectacular double play, from second baseman Connor Pandolph to shortstop Dante Zermani, to catcher Lacey to cut down the potential tying run.
The A's would add four insurance runs in the sixth, on a double by Dante Zermani, an intentional walk to Lampert, a single by Antonio Zermani, another single by hot-hitting Curtis, and some crafty baserunning.
A's closer Kritzman shut down the Dodgers in the fifth and sixth, getting out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth, to preserve the victory.
