White Sox survive the Red Tide (June 8)
With pitching squad nearly depleted, the White Sox featured 6 pitchers in Brisette, Boksansky, Testa, Sardinha, Karle and Beliveau. They were able to keep the Cards to just 5 runs through 5 innings.
On the offense, the White Sox bats came alive scoring 4 on the first inning powered by Brisette, Beliveau and Boksansky; they scored 4 more on the second, driven by Young, Christmas and Karle; and added 7 more on the sixth inning fueled by Mahoney, Zarur and McCabe.
The Cards, however, would not be intimidated by a 10-run deficit going into the bottom of the sixth, and dug deep to score 7 led by Heart, double by Nakajima, double by Galvin and long singles by Duncan and Ulwick.
The Sox called their star closer, Tyler B, who promptly stroke out two batters to end the red threat.
