White Sox outduel Marlins (June 3)
The GreenLight Biosciences White Sox outdueled the Main Street Citgo Marlins in a tight pitching contest to open the 2017 Majors Playoff. The final score of 8-1 fails to reflect the outstanding pitching by both squads. On the Marlins side, Milo Schut and Chris Power kept the White Sox to just 4 runs over 5 innings. On the other side, the Sox were able to restrain the Marlins to just one run, relying on their aces Tyler Beliveau, Paul Karle and Easton Halsey and catching by Alex Zarur.
The Sox opened the board with one run on the top of the first, driven by a Beliveau double. They added three more on the 4th after Christmas, Sardinha and Halsey reached, and were driven by another Beliveau rocket. The Marlins responded with one run on the 5th, when Badger scored on a long single by Nigro. But the Sox would put it out of reach in teh sixth, when Beau Brissette launched a rocket to left field that cleared teh bases.
