A's Double Up Diamondbacks 8-4 (May 19)
The A's started the scoring in the top of the first, as Tommy Lampert was hit by a pitch, Antonio Zermani singled, and Will Fuller drove them both in with a two-out double. But the D-Backs answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame, keyed by a leadoff double by James O'Brien and a walk by Logan Li.
The Diamondbacks took a 3-2 lead in the third, on hits by Kenzo Valentin, Jeffrey Nace and Jeff Manuel. The seesaw battle continued, as the A's reclaimed the lead 4-3 in the third, with Josh Lacey and Austin Curtis scoring.
The A's added to their lead, plating two runs in the fourth, and two more in the fifth, sparked by the hot-hitting Zermani brothers - leadoff hitter Dante finished 4-4 with three singles and a triple, and brother Antonio went 3-3, with two singles, a double and a walk.
The D-backs added a run in the fourth on a laser shot home run to right center by slugger Will Gindel.
Both teams had excellent pitching performances. For the D-Backs, Jackson Pagan, James O'Brien, and Kenzo Valentin pitched effectively all night, and the A's duo of Josh Lacey and Austin Curtis were efficient as well, issuing only three walks in holding the D-Backs to four runs.
