Marlins come out swinging vs Athletics! (May 1)
The Main Street Citgo Marlins came ready to play vs the New England OB/GYN A’s Monday evening jumping out to a 5-0 lead as the first six Marlin batters reached base on hits. Mark Price led off with a single followed by Michael Nigro and Charlie Badger each hitting RBI doubles. Milo Schut and Matthew Hu each reached base on singles and were driven home by a 2 RBI double by Chris Power.
On the defensive side the Marlins starting pitcher (Chris Power) along with solid fielding by Charlie Badger, who made a spectacular diving catch on a line drive, and Matthew Hu, Mark Price and Leo Arone kept the A’s scoreless through the first 3 innings. A’s starting pitcher (Tommy Lampert) shut down the Marlins in the second with a one, two, three inning. The Marlins added a run in the top of the third with Price scoring on a hit by Schut and another run in the top of the fourth with Power stealing home. The A’s offense came alive in the bottom of the fourth with hits by Dante Zermani, Tom Lampert, and Antonio Zermani. D. Zermani and Lampert scored and the A’s were on the verge of adding more runs until Reagan Huber, Badger, and Hu turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. The A’s reliever Carson Muse retired the Marlins in order in the top of the fifth inning and allowed one run in the top of the sixth with Badger being driven in on a hit by Hu. The Marlins reliever Michael Nigro shut down the A’s in the final two innings striking out the last 3 batters he faced to end the game giving the Marlins a big win with the final score Marlins 8 and the A’s 2.
