Babe Ruth tryout for spring 2019

This is a reminder of the Babe Ruth tryout/placement session on Sunday, October 14 from 9:00 to 11:00am on Skillings Field. Register for spring baseball here. If your player has a conflict on this day and time, send Michael Creane a note at BaseballMike9@gmail.com.

We will use the following format:

  • 8:45 - players check in at the registration desk and prep for play.
  • 9:00 - players can get loose for 10 minutes
  • 9:15 - infield reps
  • 9:45 - outfield reps
  • 10:15 - hitting
  • 00:00 - pitching/catching side sessions

As noted previously, we plan on six teams (3 A division and 3 B division). We will pair corresponding A and a B division team to work out jointly in planned practices. Additionally, we are working on a winter training session and will have information in the next three weeks.

The focus for the Babe Ruth program is to provide solid training in core skills and advanced training for all baseball athletes to help them prepare for high level competition to the best of the player's ability.

Longer range planning includes district competition in tournament play in late June, as well as two levels of competitive play and a fixed, high level weekly training session for avid players.

SYBS plans to provide a regular, planned developmental program which reinforces core skills and provides a challenging and advanced skill and game play training opportunity. The June/July program will be a joint Winchester/Belmont initiative and will include two or three tournament events (details to come).

So, register today and be prepared to display your skills and passion on October 14 at 9:00.

Special note: players may NOT wear metal cleats on the Skillings Turf. Molded cleats (baseball, soccer, general turf shoe, sneaker) are fine. No gum. No seeds.

SYBS thanks its sponsors
